Kristen Prevallet

Kristin Prevallet was born in southwest Denver, CO on December 17, 1966. Daughter of Annie Prevallet, activist and nun; partial owner of Buckskin Joe’s silver mine in Alma, CO; ancestry in Franche-Comte (Levier) France. Early studies in alchemy, mythology, and surrealism; recent studies in Olson, African poetry, modernism, Zen. Early education: Bluebirds (girl scouts), outward bound, Catholic Worker. Official education: studied journalism at the University of Northern Colorado; French literature at the Sorbonne; B.A. English, the University of Colorado, Boulder; M.A. Poetics and Media Study, the University of Buffalo. Now lives in Brooklyn. Has taught poetry and poetics, critical thinking and politics at NYU, The New School, Bard College, and Naropa University’s online MFA program. Currently teaching at St. John’s College in Jamaica, Queens.
