Stephen Powers

Stephen Powers won two Academy of American Poets prizes while working on his PhD
in creative writing at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. To help cover the
costs of graduate school, he moonlighted as a stand-up comedian (under the stage
name of Trevor Austen) in comedy clubs and casinos across the Midwest. His work
has appeared or is forthcoming in a variety of journals and anthologies,
including Shenandoah, Margie, Main Street Rag, and 32 Poems. He spends his
free time at Dollywood, where Dolly Parton gives him a special wink and wave
when she sees him in the crowds.
